Denisa Dobrovodová

Denisa Dobrovodová is a writer born and raised in Bratislava, Slovakia. Having recently completed the MSt in Creative Writing program at the University of Oxford, she is currently working on a novel, Rarely Ever Isn't Never, which explores the highs and lows of young womanhood, ruled by the chaos of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

She loves to read women’s literary fiction, and her writing is influenced by the works of Joan Didion, Eve Babitz, Sally Rooney, Ottessa Moshfegh, Eliza Clark and others. Her creative work blurs the line between drama and comedy, exploring the complexities of the human psyche and intrapersonal relationships.

Denisa is a member of Jamais Vu Productions. Her debut play, The Getaway, was staged at Oxford’s BT Studio in February 2025. She's also the current editor-in-chief of The Wellington Square. In addition to her novel, she's working on a television drama, Bubbles.

She wrote her debut novel, You Can’t Choose Your Family, at the age of twelve and saw it published in Slovakia in 2014. Before completing her MA in Art History and Film Studies at the University of St Andrews, she worked as a full-time journalist.
